It was built on the beliefs of a hard-working and motivated man, David W. Reid. He came to Brisbane from London in 1908. He quickly achieved an executive position with the successful Australian firm, Dalgety's, as head of motor vehicle import operations.

David Reid then established his own business, Medical and Surgical Requisites, in 1922, on Wickham Terrace (see picture on right). By 1926, his business had won the contract to sharpen scissors for the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Nine years later, the company was contracted to supply anaesthetic ether to the Brisbane and South Coast Hospitals Board.

Today David Reid's family continue with the same ethical practices and dedication to customer care that he valued so highly. His vision has been carried forth to make Medical and Surgical Requisites a widely respected importer and distributor, supplying the Australian market with the best quality, and value-for-money products the world has to offer.

 The company is now managed by the Bailey family, with Geoffrey Bailey as the managing director.
