Iodosorb Cadexomer Iodine Medicated Dressing

Iodosorb assists the healing and treatment of chronic ulcers. Iodosorb reduces the bacterial counts, facilitates desloughing, absorbs exudate and maintains a moist wound environment to promote healing.

Iodosorb is a sterile wound dressing containing cadexomer iodine, used for chronic, exuding wounds like leg and pressure ulcers, to absorb fluid, remove debris, kill bacteria, and promote healing by forming a gel over the wound as iodine is released. It works by absorbing exudate, releasing iodine to reduce bacterial load and cleanse the wound, and changing colour as the iodine is used up, indicating it's time for a change. 
Mode of Action:

•     Absorbs fluid: The cadexomer beads absorb up to six times their weight in exudate, pus, and fluid, preventing maceration.
•     Releases iodine: As it absorbs fluid, iodine is slowly released to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
•     Cleanses the wound: It facilitates the removal of slough and debris, preparing the wound bed for healing.
•     Forms a gel: The product turns into a soft, protective gel that stays in place, maintaining a moist environment.
•     Colour change: The dark brown colour fades as the iodine is used, signaling when reapplication is needed.
